California Poison Control System pharmacist warns pot alternative harmful
California Poison Control System (CPCS) pharmacist and toxicologist Kathryn Meier, PharmD, DABAT, cites hypertension, tachycardia, anxiety as among the symptoms seen in emergency room patients who have used synthetic cannabinoids. These products have sickened more than 1,500 people across the United States in 2010 and are almost completely unstudied, according to the November 9, 2010 report on KTVU television. Meier is a faculty member in the UCSF School of Pharmacy, which administers the CPCS.
