The 2015 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year is Rear Admiral Pamela Schweitzer, PharmD ’87. The recognition by the Pharmacy Alumni Association is given to the School graduate who has made outstanding contributions to the profession of pharmacy, to society, and/or to UCSF.

Concluding a year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of UC San Francisco, the School of Pharmacy presented its own “Making History” event in Byers Auditorium on the Mission Bay campus on May 30, 2015.

School of Pharmacy alumnus Robert Gibson, PharmD '58, has been a tireless advocate for equality in education and in the profession of pharmacy, and is still active as a board member of the California Pharmacists Association Education Foundation.

Harry W. Hind, a 1939 graduate of the UCSF School of Pharmacy who invented solutions that revolutionized contact lens use, as well as a topical patch to treat pain from shingles, died on April 12 at age 96.

Winter, PharmD, professor emeritus of clinical pharmacy, UCSF School of Pharmacy, has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the UCSF Pharmacy Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award. Robert D. Gibson, PharmD, UCSF School of Pharmacy alumnus and former associate dean, has been honored with the Chauncey I. Cooper Award by the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA) in recognition of his sustained and distinguished service to the profession of pharmacy.

Darryl Inaba, PharmD, UCSF School of Pharmacy 1971 alumnus, a substance abuse expert and former CEO of the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Inc., was honored on August 7, 2006 as the clinics' first fellow.

Robert D. Gibson, PharmD, UCSF School of Pharmacy alumnus and former associate dean, is the 2006 recipient of the Remington Honor Medal. This is the highest honor bestowed by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).
