University of California San Francisco - Clinical Pharmacy - Los Angeles-Orange County Satellite Pharmacy Education Program

The Los Angeles/Orange County Area Program has been in existence since 1980. The program now provides Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) for approximately twenty senior pharmacy students in a large variety of health care settings. The primary APPE sites include UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, UCLA Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. In addition, APPEs may be taken at over 30 sites, including Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Long Beach and Los Angeles, various Kaiser Permanente sites, as well as other hospitals, clinics, HMOs, home health care companies and community pharmacies (chain and independent) in the surrounding areas. APPEs are also available in the Inland Empire (Colton, Fontana, San Bernardino and Riverside). Robin Corelli, Pharm.D., and Peter Ambrose, Pharm.D., are full-time UCSF faculty members located in the LA/OC area. Additionally, there are approximately 200 volunteer faculty members in the associated APPE sites.

The wide variety of APPEs expose students to high-caliber, traditional and non-traditional pharmacy practice, and to a host of patient populations.
