Center Programs

The UCSF Center for Consumer Self Care achieves its mission to help people take a central part in their own health care in three core program areas:

Research

Policy
  • Rx Drug Benefit & Medication Therapy Management

Education
  • Self Care Forum Series
  • Continuing Education
  • The Lipid Certification Program at the UCSF School of Pharmacy

The program activities for education, research, health policy and the forum series are integrated to achieve synergies across the programs, consistent with the Center's Mission and Values Statement.

For example, informative research on self-care is used in our educational activities with pharmacy students and continuing education activities for practicing pharmacists. The Center's research may also inform health policy discussions relating to pharmacy practice, health communications (label warnings), self-care practices, among other areas. Changes in national policy may lead to research initiatives that drive educational efforts and health policy refinements.
