Center Expands Programs with Record Level of Funding
Center for Consumer Self Care

The Center for Consumer Self Care surpassed the $ million dollar mark in cumulative funding for a range of projects relating to drug information, research, and pharmacist care services. Founded on a grant from the TJ Longs Foundation 5 years ago, and with the hiring of a permanent director in late 2003, the Center its faculty collaboration to include the following current services, research and health communication programs. The Center is located within the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
Current Services
- Expert pharmaceutical care services to the UCSF Medical Center;
- California Blue Shield California Blue Shield Expert Advisory Reviews for drug monographs relating to decisions about CBS’ formulary;
- California Blue Shield Ask The Pharmacist Service Telepharmacy services for patients with diabetes attending St. Anthony’s Free Medical Clinic in San Francisco;
- CAlifornia Low-Cost Medicine (CALM) Program, in partnership with Longs Drug Stores to provide low cost medicines through a grant from the California State Attorney General office.
